Murthy V. Simhambhatla, PhD President & CEO

Murthy has been President and CEO of SetPoint Medical since 2018. He joined SetPoint from Evolus, an aesthetic neurotoxin company, which he led towards an IPO in 2018. Prior to Evolus, he was Senior Vice President at Abbott Laboratories and President of Abbott Medical Optics, with operating responsibility for the global cataract, LASIK and OTC corneal businesses. Prior to AMO, Murthy led Abbott’s Ibis Biosciences business focused on the rapid and broad detection of pathogens responsible for infections in critically ill patients. He joined Abbott through the acquisition of Guidant’s vascular business in 2006, where he was Vice President and General Manager for Drug Eluting Stents. Murthy holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Anna University in India and master’s and doctorate degrees in polymer engineering from the University of Akron.
